Sports Tutor (other roles also available)

Full-time: salaries starting £27k, £28k, £29k

  1. 90 students aged 16-19, 6 tutors, 4 classrooms, gym & sports hall
  2. 38 weeks term-time in college, 2 weeks GCSE results, recruiting, enrolment
  3. 35 days holiday + bank holidays
  4. 25 hours teaching per week in term time, remainder for preparation, marking, pastoral
  5. If desired, additional salary for some teaching of adult courses outside term-time or at weekends

Closing Date: 6th March 2026, 12 noon.

Wigan Warriors College and Competence Development Academy together form the expanding Further Education College within Competence Development Ltd, a leading Sport & Physical Activity Training Provider and specialist Education Software author.

Role Overview

We are expanding our service delivery to include Level 1 provision and as a result require Sports Tutors with experience within the sport, fitness, health and coaching sector for both existing and new roles. Potential candidates may have experience of working with Level 1 learners and may have specific experience of working with learners with additional learning needs.

Roles require organised and driven individuals with a passion for students and quality education. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a real enthusiasm to develop learners within further education to prepare them for roles within the sport and fitness industry. Your qualifications and experience

The following is considered essential:

  • PGCE, Certificate or Diploma in Education or equivalent

The following are considered desirable:

  • Experience of working with Learners with additional needs
  • Vocational Degree in Sport, Health & Fitness
  • Industry Certificates in Gym/Fitness/Coaching Instruction
  • Teaching experience within the Further Education Sector
  • Proven track record of delivering outstanding results in education
  • QTS
  • Assessor Qualification
  • Industry experience in Fitness/Coaching or Health
